On the show this week we visit the town of Trangie for the Truck and Tractor Festival. Trangie is NW of Dubbo about 75km’s and from Narromine 38km’s on the Mitchell highway. The festival started back in 2019 but of course Covid stopped the next 2 years so the town was excited to have it happen again. Was a great country atmosphere in the town, everyone came out. The morning started with grey skies and a little rain but the gods were kind and the sun shone through. Note to self next year if we are out that way take gumboots. They would normally have had a tractor pull but due to the conditions in the show ground that did not happen but everyone had a great time. The towns streets had trucks all makes and tractors down the main street, the showgrounds had a country market and food stalls.

Phill chats with Rob McCutcheon one of the organisers of the festival and he tells us a little about whats on.

Next up Phill chats with our regular Jeff DeAth from Check Weight and this weeks subject is Payload and what is Tare!

The definition of tare is or sometimes called unladen weight, is the weight of an empty vehicle or container. By subtracting it from the gross weight (GVM). Payload is the difference between Tare and your ATM.

Once you start adding on the gas bottles, solar panel, larger tool box, these are not included in the tare. One of the reasons you should listen to the discussion and also take your car and van along and be professionally weighed to make sure you are compliant. https://checkweight.com.au

Our next stop takes us to Tasmania to a little town called Derby. Now Derby is inland on the East Coast and has been made famous with Mountain Bike Trails. Joe has a chat with Phill and he takes us through the bikes and also the different trails. Below is an example of some of the many trails available to ride. It has been very well planned out with businesses in town to hire bikes, they also pick you up, take you to the top and then you go on your bike racing down the trail. check out the web page to view some of the trails available. https://www.ridebluederby.com.au/trails
