We have now moved further through the Snowy Mountains and are now visiting Tumut, we found a great camp by the Tumut River. The water is crystal clear and freezing cold. We are only about 10km’s out of town. No facilities but great scenery. We unfortunately were unable to camp on the Blowering Dam as its not dog friendly.

If you are in the area stop in to the Blowering Dam, famous as the site of the water speed record back in 1978. its one of the biggest dams in NSW with 1,628,00 Megalitres or 3 times the size of Sydney Harbour. Water is released upstream for the Snowy Mountains Hydro Electric Scheme and also releases it for the irrigation area of the Murrimbidgee area. This large area is popular with water sports and fishing. The dams rock wall is 747 metres long and 114 metres high.
We also took a drive to Adalong to the Adelong Falls Gold Mine Ruins.
You can wander at your leisure around the ruins, there are signs posted along the walking track describing various items relating to the site. The mill processed ore from the mines in Adelong and the wider area and ceased operation in 1914. The falls are also popular in the warmer months and its a great spot for a picnic.

Our next stop while in Tumut was to visit the Tumut Broom Factory, where they have been making millet brooms since 1946. You can watch them being made all by hand. Check out their website for more information or if you want to buy a millet broom. https://tumutbroomfactory.com/

Take a day trip to Batlow known for being the apple growing area, visit the farmgate to purchase straight from the grower. The are more than 50 growers in the area, supplying 1.6 million cases of apples and are 10% of the Australian market.
We take a visit to the Tumut River Brewing Company and Phill chats with Tim the owner, listen in to the podcast to hear what they have to chat about. You can also do tastings and also meals available. I can recommend the Ginja Ninja and it certainly packs a punch. Check out their website for more information. https://www.trbc.com.au/

Now if your into skydiving, Phill is chatting to Ritchie from Skydive Oz, and they are touring country NSW doing tandem dives.
