We have a great show this week. We are in Lightning Ridge meeting and chatting with some great people we have met. First up Phill is chatting with Mark.
We met Mark and his family who have made their own camper complete with roof top tent. Mark is a carpenter by trade who also has welding skills. The main body of the van holds the kitchen and storage and the sleeping is in the roof top tent. Here his story via the podcast.

Next on the show we chat with Phill and Lench owners of Option RV. They are having Option RV Owners Group rally at the Opal Caravan Park with about 100 plus vans attending.
Phill takes us through the range of vans available. The entry level is the Tornado, through to the Distinction then the Traction which is fully of road including lithium batteries.
Standard sizes start at 17’6 up to 22′ and can be customised to the buyers need. The Traction being fully of road.
Option RV has been around for 15 years. They are more around quality rather than quantity. Phill works on the tools with his father and Lench works on the after sales and warranties. A small family group that provide high quality customer service. Check out the website. There are 2 dealerships at 7th Street Caravans Heatherbrea or Caravan World on the Sunshine Coast.

Next on the show is Beth and Charlie, we have met them before and they are attending the Option RV Owners Group. Beth tells us she cleaned out the van and repacked their van, and have managed to clear a lot of unused items, working with fellow friends. They have recently moved to QLD and have not had a chance to travel. They are heading to Phillip Island for the Moto GP and working for a charity for Rotary at the GP. So a working holiday for them. They will take their time heading back home.
Some of the activities at the rally is a Hawaiian night, various activities through out the town of Lightning Ridge for 5 days.

Next on the show Phill chats with Jeff DeAth and the subject this week is doing an upgrade ATM on your caravan. The maximum limit your caravan can weigh. If you are looking to get an upgrade you need to go through an engineer for this. Sometimes when you buy a second hand caravan previous owners have made changes and therefore the van may now weigh more than the compliance plate states.
Firstly check if you may be able to upgrade, things to look for is to check compliance plate for axel group capacity, also the GTM that the chassis is rated to. Other things an engineer will look at are brakes size. But it is wise to go through the engineer as Check Weight can only advise what you may need. But first a good idea is to get your van and car weighed to see where your van and vehicle are rated.
