We continue our travels and have parked up at Eumungerie camp ground. What a great spot, I did mention about this campground in last weeks post. There is plenty of space, about 10 sites with power and water, space for big rigs, also cold showers and toilets, cleaned daily. The fees are $5 a night unpowered and $10 a night powered. Also dogs allowed as long as its leashed. Whilst here we met a lovely couple who also like us had toy poodles, Poppy and Paris. We started chatting with Beth and Charlie, fellow travellers and we were interested in their caravan. An Option RV Distinction. Phill has an interview with them.

We move on and find ourselves in Bourke. We pull into the van park and the first thing we see is this great bus that has been converted into a mobile home. We manage a few days here and have a look around town. We also head down to the river and its when the heavy rains are about and the Darling River is nearing its peak. The Darling River is the 3rd longest river in Australia measuring 1472 km’s and joins up with the Murray River in Wentworth. Getting back to the bus, we meet Murray and Chrissie who have recently purchased the bus, and its now their home on wheels.
Phill of course is curious about the bus as he back in his younger years drove buses. We find out that Murray and Chrissie are musicians and we start chatting and they decide to have a chat with us for the programme. Also they sing 2 songs for us that they wrote.

We continue our travels and this time we stop up at Walgett, unfortunately for us due to the heavy rains we had to do a long detour as the road between Bourke and Walgett was closed due to flooding. We stopped just as we hit town at the Alex Trevallion Rotary Park, its free there are toilets and bins. There is a council worker that comes around each afternoon just to record your details. Walgett is famous for the late singer Jimmy Little and the song he is known for Royal Telephone. The town has painted the water tower featuring Jimmy Little.

When we visited the information centre in town asking what to see and do in the area, the told us of a little town called Carinda. This town was made famous by the singer David Bowie and his song Lets Dance. So back in 1983 re requisite David Bowie was wanting for the film clip was a dirt road with a pub on the corner and this town had all that. Now of course the dirt road is long gone. Now each year on the October Long Weekend, this town celebrates with the Lets Dance Festival, but unfortunately has been cancelled the last 2 years due to Covid. The pub is the centre of town, has camping for 2 vans, pub meals and the meeting place for the town each day. Phill chats with Simone who is one of the organisers for the festival and tells us a little about it.
