Our trip takes us further down the South Coast. We stop in and meet Garry and Jo from Tathra Oysters. This is a family run business and has been running since 1988. The oyster growing area is in the pristine waters of Nelson Lake in the Mimosa Rocks National Park. They have won over 180 awards for these delicatable morsels. While in Tathra you have many wonderful day trips that you can do from the area. You have Bega, Tura Beach, Merimbula and Pambula. All these towns have great things to offer the tourist. Bega has the Bega Valley Regional Gallery, the Pioneers Museum, Mimosa Rocks National Park and currently The Bega Cheese Heritage Museum is closed due to Covid.
A drive to Merimbula south of Bega is a coastal town with a beach, surf breaks over a sandbar and Short Point a great spot to whale watch. Theres a great boardwalk taking you round Merimbula lake. Pambula is a historic village between Merimbula and Eden. The main street boasting colonial buildings. There are walking trails in Ben Boyd National Park. Heading north of Tathra is Bermagui, another lovely coastal town. Complete with the Blue Pool, climb down the stairs to a great swimming hole. We were lucky to see seals playing from of the cliffs when we were there.
Phill caught up with a great young chap Ben, travelling on his own for this trip in his Toyota Land Cruiser 79 series, complete with roof top tent, the service body and the other additions he intends to include. They had a great chat, Phill learning a lot also from Ben. Tune in to listen.

While in Tathra we stayed at the Tathra Beachside Caravan Park. What a great park, right on the beach, suiting all types of traveller, from van sites, some with ensuite, cabins, 3br luxury beach house, safari tents and vintage vans. The park is pet friendly all year round excluding 26 Dec – 9 Jan and they have pet friendly cabins. A great pool area for the kids , coffee cart for that morning coffee, a great camp kitchen. Sunday night while we were there, they had a duo playing, you could even order pizza to be ready at a time you specify. You may even see Frankie J from the band Ol’55 who just so happened to stop by and Phill and Frankie J had a great chat about the park. https://tathrabeachside.com.au/
