Our journey is now taking us away from the lovely coastal towns and now heading into the Snowy Mountains Region. Leaving the coast and back through Bega there is a rather steep 10km incline up Brown Mountain so be ready. It was nice when we reached the top. Pulled into Nimmitabel for a coffee break. There is a parking area as you enter town to stop have a break and toilets.

Our next stop on the trip has us at Cooma. We pull into the Cooma Jail and chat with Andrew, Statewide Museums Manager of Corrections NSW. Andrew talks Phill through the museum and spoke about the prison system. These days its more about rehibilitation rather than punishment.

The photo above is Phill pleading his case before the gallows. The last Australian hanged was back in 1967. Robert then takes us through the prisoners cell and shows us some of the food they eat and talks about what they are provided. The cell below is a replica of a cell, but in a normal jail its four walls and no bars. We were even allowed to take our furbaby through with us. Check out the website for opening times. https://correctiveservices.dcj.nsw.gov.au/

We take a trip to Adaminiby, home of “The Big Trout”. Adaminiby was flooded back in 1957 and the old town was relocated. Lake Eucambine is 9 times the capacity of Sydney Harbour.
